Prepared As A Bride

Weddings used to be one of my favorite things. Some years I would go to eight or ten of them. Every wedding was different. But one thing was always the same. The bride was the highlight.

She would walk out dressed and ready. Hair done. Beautiful dress. Everyone in the room would turn to look. That was the moment we were all waiting for.

That is the picture John gives us in Revelation 21:2.

"Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." — Revelation 21:2

All eyes on her

Picture it. Sparkly. White. Beautiful. The thing everyone has been waiting to see. Every eye drawn to it the second it appears.

Except this is not a bride walking down an aisle. This is the New Jerusalem, coming down out of the sky, into the new heaven and the new earth.

The moment we are waiting for

John is telling us that this city will be ready. Prepared. Adorned. Just like a bride on her wedding day.

It is the moment everything has been building toward. And it is coming.
